MBA/Doctor of Pharmacy Joint Degree

Admission to the Joint Degree Program

Students apply and are admitted independently to each program and begin their study in the College of Pharmacy. The first two years are spent in the College of Pharmacy, with students beginning their MBA study by taking one to two core courses during the summer semesters of those years. The third year is dedicated to study in the Liautaud Graduate School of Business. By the end of that year, most students will have completed all core requirements and the three courses needed to develop a field of concentration in the MBA program. In years four and five, students complete the requirements for the joint degrees, with most study occurring in the College of Pharmacy. Both degrees are awarded at the same time, once the requirements of both programs are completed. The College of Pharmacy will grant 12 hours of elective credits toward the MBA degree. These courses also contribute to the required Doctor of Pharmacy Electives. The Liautaud Graduate School of Business will waive six semester hours to students enrolled in the joint PharmD/MBA program. In addition, 12 elective hours taken in the College of Pharmacy contribute toward the MBA requirements. To complete the MBA in the joint program, a student must complete 48 credit hours of study.

Degree Requirements

Students interested in the joint program must apply and be admitted independently to both the College of Pharmacy and the Liautaud Graduate School of Business. Current students in the College of Pharmacy may apply in their P-1 year, by March 15 for summer enrollment. In addition to the application form and personal statements, transcripts of all prior study and letters of recommendation, candidates for the MBA must submit scores from the GMAT. Candidates will also be invited to interview for the program to confirm their interest and academic qualifications.
