BDO and UIC Accounting Students Combine Networking with Community Impact
BDO, the 8th largest accounting firm in the U.S., recently partnered with the UIC Accounting Club for a firm night and service project.
BDO considers stewardship to be “an essential part of our business,” a value reflected in its extensive community engagement efforts. Through its social impact program, BDO Counts, the firm supports hundreds of local and national nonprofit, civic, and professional organizations that strengthen communities.
Following a presentation on BDO’s social impact commitments, students were introduced to a representative from Facing Forward, one of the firm’s community partners. Students learned about the organization’s work serving individuals experiencing homelessness in Chicago.
To support clients who have recently secured housing, students assembled laundry bags filled with household essentials to help them get started in their new homes.
The evening concluded with a light dinner and networking with BDO representatives, including Mike Diaz, UIC Business alumnus ’18.
