Bridging Learning Gaps: Trischa Duke Presents UDL Scaffolding at TeachX
UIC Business instructional specialist shares innovative, accessibility-focused teaching strategies at Northwestern’s TeachX conference—and prepares for global impact in Glasgow.
Trischa Duke Presents at TeachX Presentation
Trischa Duke, an Instructional Development Specialist for the UIC College of Business Administration’s online programs, presented a virtual workshop entitled “Mind the Gap: A UDL-Informed Scaffolding Design Workshop” at this year’s TeachX conference, hosted by Northwestern University. TeachX showcases innovative teaching and learning applications with a strong focus on technology, Universal Design for Learning, and digital accessibility. In this interactive workshop, participants analyzed the complexity of their learning tasks through a UDL lens, designed three-phase scaffolding sequences with built-in flexibility to improve learning, and received peer feedback on a scaffold to implement in their teaching immediately. Duke will deliver this workshop in person at the Improving University Teaching conference in July in Glasgow, UK.
