CMBA hosts Lunar New Year celebration

Introduction
The CBA community gathered for a joyful Lunar New Year celebration welcoming the Year of the Snake, hosted by the CMBA team, on January 24. The Lunar New Year is traditionally celebrated to usher in springtime, warmer temperatures, and good tidings for the new year. Over 100 alumni, faculty, staff and students alike enjoyed an exhilarating Dragon Dance performed by the CMBA team, followed by an engaging icebreaking game designed by CMBA student Darren Liu. Participants then explored 10 interactive booths inspired by traditional Chinese temple fairs, enjoying activities like paper cutting, calligraphy, lantern riddles, pitch pots, fortune drawing, and more.
The day concluded with an exciting Grand Prize Raffle (drawn by Jing Yu of the CMBA team, Dr. Andriy Bodnaruk, Associate Dean for Planning and Professional Programs and Professor of Finance, and Dr. Neal McCrillis, UIC VP for Global Engagement). The guests also enjoyed a special visit from the God of Fortune who generously handed out treats for all to enjoy. The CMBA team was proud to welcome in the Year of the Golden Snake with the UIC community. We are looking forward to a 2025 filled with good fortune, happiness, and positivity for everyone. Special thanks to Chase Johnson, the CMBA Lunar New Year student event committee, and the business ambassadors who made the celebration an evening to remember!
