Growing Global Connections: UIC Business Welcomes Taiwan Delegation

Deans and faculty from UIC and Taiwan’s National Central University exchange insights on best practices for attracting top-tier students and expanding cross-border engagement.

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, Dean Sandy Wayne welcomed Dean Jin-Huei Yeh, Associate Dean Mark Shen, and Professor Ray Shan-Ying Chu from National Central University to campus. Joining the discussion were UIC Business faculty members Özgür Arslan-Ayaydin, Andriy Bodnaruk, Beryl Chen, Selva Nadarajah, and Ali Tafti. Together, they held a productive meeting focused on strategies and best practices for recruiting high-quality students from Taiwan.

The group also discussed opportunities to secure support through the 2026 University Academic Alliance in Taiwan (UAAT) International Student Group Visit Program. Sponsored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, the program promotes meaningful student exchange, strengthens academic partnerships, and advances collaboration in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, digital humanities, and social sciences. The funding would support a future group visit to Taiwan for UIC Business students. Dean Yeh and his delegation also participated in the 4th Annual AI Symposium.

UIC Business began collaborating with National Central University and other universities in Taiwan in 2024. In Fall 2025, the first cohort of four students enrolled in the College’s MS in Finance program. The College community went above and beyond to provide these students with an exceptional academic and professional experience through personalized support and engagement opportunities. All four students secured part-time positions within UIC Business, and one student already accepted a finance-sector role in Chicago with an annual salary exceeding $100,000.

Building on this early success, UIC Business anticipates a 200% increase in MS student enrollment from Taiwan for Fall 2026, further strengthening the College’s growing international partnerships and global student community.
