Recently, UIC Business students stepped beyond the classroom for an interactive learning experience at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, including a visit to its Money Museum to explore the inner workings of the U.S. financial system.

During the visit, students attended a private session led by UIC alumni Marc Butiong, senior change management specialist, and Uriel Garcia, large bank supervision leader, who offered an inside look at the Federal Reserve’s responsibilities. The discussion covered key areas including monetary policy, financial stability, and economic oversight.

These insights helped students better understand how the Federal Reserve’s decisions influence financial institutions and the broader economy.

The experience provided students with a real-world perspective, reinforcing concepts introduced in the classroom, while illustrating their practical application. Students also had the opportunity to engage directly with Marc and Uriel, gaining insight into career paths and the day-to-day realities of working within the Federal Reserve system.

Connecting with alumni added a meaningful dimension to the visit, highlighting the strength of the UIC Business network and the opportunities it creates for mentorship and professional growth.

Experiences like this reflect UIC Business’s commitment to hands-on learning—ensuring students graduate with the knowledge and perspective needed to prepare them for financial careers in today’s economy.
