The SHRM Student Chapter at UIC has been recognized with the 2025–2026 SHRM Student Merit Award, marking the first time the organization has earned this national distinction. Presented by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the award recognizes student chapters that demonstrate excellence in leadership, professional development, member engagement, community impact, and service to the human resources profession. This milestone reflects the commitment, initiative, and leadership of our student officers and members, whose efforts have strengthened opportunities for professional growth, networking, and career readiness. The chapter’s success is also due in large part to the guidance of James Cooper, Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Managerial Studies, and advisor to the chapter, whose dedication has helped shape its growth and achievements. It also reflects UIC Business’s commitment to preparing future HR leaders through experiential learning and strong connections with the profession. We are incredibly proud of our students and look forward to building on this achievement in the years ahead.
