UIC Business Faculty in the News

Chaplin & Liden

New York Magazine published a piece late last month about the Volkswagen crisis, citing a 2012 essay by Professor Lan Chaplin on the direct emotional reactions of consumers to bad news about brands they love. Chaplin, whose background spans consumer psychology and behavioral medicine, teaches regularly on both consumer behavior and brand management.

FCW’s recent piece on managing team performance drew on an essay by Notre Dame professor Jasmine Hu, Phd ’12, and Professor Robert Liden on the links between team effectiveness and prosocial motivation. In the cited work, Liden and Hu show that prosocial motivation can describe our interests at a social level above that of the individual, and is thus a key concept in studying the growing popularity of work teams and team building.
