UIC Business, in collaboration with Ascend at UIC, hosted the 3rd Annual InnovAsian Alumni Panel on Tuesday, April 7, in Student Center East as part of Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month. UIC celebrates APIDA Heritage Month in April instead of May to ensure students can fully engage before the end of the academic year.

Insights on “Life After UIC”

This year’s theme, “Life After UIC,” focused on preparing students for the transition beyond graduation. Through a moderated discussion, alumni shared insights on navigating early-career pathways, building professional skills, and growing as leaders in their respective industries.

Building on this theme, the conversation offered students a candid look at life after college and the evolving expectations of the workforce.

A Multidisciplinary Panel of Experts

The panel featured alumni with diverse perspectives and experiences across a range of industries, including:

  • Asfia Khan, Senior Technical Project Manager, RAPP
  • Marwah Khan, Human Resource Generalist, BorgWarner
  • Ronnenz Chua, Robotics Application Engineer, ERT Solutions
  • Gerald Angelo Geronimo, Member Engagement Assistant, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Emily Phan, Software Development Engineer I, McDonald’s
  • Neel Patel, Visiting Lecturer of Accounting, UIC Business

Mentorship and Career Connections

Following the discussion, students connected directly with speakers during a networking session, creating opportunities for mentorship, career guidance, and continued conversation.

The event remains a signature program that fosters dialogue, celebrates APIDA voices and experiences, and strengthens community across UIC Business. We extend our appreciation to the alumni panelists for sharing their time and insights with our students.
