UIC Business Launches Executive Exchange Speaker Series
Alumnus Cary Kochman, B.S. '86 Inspires at Inaugural Event
UIC Business proudly kicked off its new signature event series—UIC Business Executive Exchange—with resounding success. The inaugural event, held on September 17, welcomed over 150 students and faculty for an inspiring and insightful conversation with Cary Kochman, B.S. Accounting ’86, one of UIC’s most distinguished alumni.
Kochman, who recently retired as the head of Global Mergers & Acquisitions as well as chairman of the Chicago office for CITI, brought decades of investment banking expertise to the stage. In a dynamic Q&A, with thoughtful questions from the student audience, Kochman shared candid reflections on his career journey, lessons learned, and the pivotal role UIC faculty mentors played in shaping his path.
Topics ranged from strategic leadership and navigating professional challenges to cautionary tales and advice for aspiring business leaders. Kochman’s transparency, humility, and depth of experience made a lasting impression. He was described by attendees as engaging, motivating, and inspiring, offering not only professional insights but also encouragement and wisdom for the next generation.
Following the conversation, a networking reception offered students and faculty the opportunity to connect, reflect, and continue the dialogue sparked by Kochman’s visit.
The UIC Business Executive Exchange series will continue each semester, bringing top-tier C-suite executives to campus for meaningful conversations that bridge classroom learning with real-world leadership. Stay tuned for future events as we celebrate the power of executive insight and the strength of the UIC Business community.
