UIC Business Students Explore Data Science Careers with Wipfli

IDS in the Real World, hosted by the UIC Department of Information and Decision Sciences in the College of Business Administration and sponsored by corporate partner Wipfli, brought students together with industry professionals. The session offered a firsthand look at how data science and analytics are applied in professional consulting environments.

 

Connecting Classroom to Careers

Students engaged actively throughout the session, asking thoughtful questions and participating in lively discussions. Their curiosity reflected a growing interest in how classroom concepts translate into the workplace.

Industry speakers Anirudh Nadkarni and Walker Mullin from Wipfli shared insights into the firm’s culture, career pathways, and internship opportunities. Their perspectives helped students better understand the day-to-day realities of consulting work and the technical and interpersonal skills needed to succeed in data-driven roles.
