UIC Business hosted its third annual Black Marketplace
On February 24, UIC Business hosted its third annual Black Marketplace in partnership with Black Students in Business. More than 170 students attended, continuing a growing campus tradition that highlights and supports Black student entrepreneurs.
Student founders showcased businesses across a wide range of industries. Ventures included art and handmade crafts, clothing and footwear brands, jewelry design, beauty and cosmetics services, and a HealthTech platform. Together, the businesses reflected the creativity and ambition of UIC students building their own brands.
For many participant
For many participants, the event offered more than a chance to sell products. Students refined their business pitches, strengthened their brand presence, and engaged directly with peers, faculty, and staff. From established small business owners to entrepreneurs launching new concepts, students introduced their businesses and received direct feedback from peers, faculty, and staff.
Beyond the featured products and services, the atmosphere reflected pride and a strong sense of community and support for student entrepreneurs. The Black Marketplace continues to serve as a powerful platform for amplifying student voices, expanding access to opportunity, and reinforcing pathways toward leadership, economic empowerment, and long-term business ownership.
