UIC Business Welcomes Future Students Through a Month of March Recruitment Events
UIC Business launched March with an exciting lineup of recruitment events, welcoming students, families, and community partners to campus for immersive experiences that highlighted college pathways, career exploration, and innovation.
Across multiple programs, prospective students had the opportunity to engage with faculty, staff, alumni, and current students while experiencing the collaborative, hands-on learning environment that defines UIC Business.
My Brother’s Keeper Symposium
On March 3, UIC Business hosted 95 students for the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Symposium at Student Center East. The day focused on college access, career readiness, and personal development, complemented by campus tours and speed networking workshops led by One Million Degrees and Reach Pathways.
A highlight of the program was “The Artist in the Career,” presented by Derrick Christian, director of marketing and brand communication at the United Center. The event concluded with student presentations and closing remarks.
Westside Leadership Academy with Junior Achievement
On March 4, 120 students participated in an interactive campus experience that combined admissions insights with hands-on engagement. The day featured a Kahoot activity led by Bernadette Poole, a student panel, campus tours, and a career-focused presentation — offering a well-rounded introduction to college planning.
UIC Business Innovation Challenge
On March 5, students from Whitney Young and King College Prep took part in the Innovation Challenge, showcasing creativity and teamwork as they developed solutions to real-world problems.
Led by Bernadette Poole, Steve Bob, and the professional development team, the program culminated in a Social Innovation Challenge where students pitched their ideas. A student innovators panel added further perspective and inspiration.
Business Scholars Showcase
On March 11, admitted students and their families attended the Business Scholars Showcase, an evening designed to provide a deeper look at the program experience.
The event included networking opportunities, a program overview from Mayra Sanchez, and sessions on study abroad and financial aid. Guests also heard from alum Malorie Huffman and an employer panel featuring Medline, Total Quality Logistics, and Grant Thornton. A current student panel offered an authentic perspective on life at UIC Business.
Rich Township High School Visit
On March 12, students from the Business Professionals of America program visited campus for a comprehensive experience that included an admissions presentation, student testimonial, business student panel, and a Business Career Center activity.
The visit concluded with lunch and a campus tour, giving students a full view of campus life and academic opportunities.
Saint Patrick High School Visit
On March 20, UIC Business welcomed students from Saint Patrick High School for a hands-on campus visit focused on experiential learning.
After an admissions presentation, students participated in an interactive stock-pitching activity in the Market Trading Lab using Bloomberg Terminals. Working in teams, they researched companies, evaluated investment potential, and presented their findings while responding to peer questions.
Student ambassadors supported participants throughout the experience, helping guide discussions and activities.
A Collaborative Effort
