Vijay Kamble Returns from Sabbatical as Amazon Scholar
Vijay Kamble, Amazon Scholar
Vijay Kamble, Associate Professor of Information and Decision Sciences, returns to UIC after a year-long sabbatical, during which he served as an Amazon Scholar in Amazon’s pricing and promotions organization. During his tenure, he helped design a new optimization layer for the promotions-sourcing workflow behind major sales events such as Prime Day and Black Friday. By identifying more effective promotions, the initiative is projected to generate substantial incremental promotional revenue across events.
Kamble also advanced research funded by the Discovery Partners Institute on how foundation models can improve industry decision-making, with a particular focus on causal estimation and AI-based customer simulation. He returns to UIC with new research, industry insights, and teaching initiatives at the intersection of artificial intelligence and business.
