Withum Hosts First Firm Night at UIC Business
Students interested in careers in public accounting recently had the opportunity to connect with one of the nation’s leading firms when Withum hosted its first firm night on campus in partnership with the UIC Accounting Club.
Sarah Harrington, senior campus recruiter at Withum, introduced students to the firm and presented “How to Win Over an Employer.” She shared guidance on crafting effective resumes, navigating the job search, and understanding the recruiter’s perspective during the hiring process. The event also gave students the opportunity to ask questions and connect directly with professionals from the firm.
Building Industry Connections
Headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey, Withum is a national advisory, tax, and accounting firm serving businesses and organizations across a wide range of industries. The firm expanded its presence in the Chicago area in 2025, creating new opportunities for students pursuing careers in public accounting.
Events like firm nights give students direct access to professionals while helping them better understand the skills and experiences employers look for during the recruiting process. They also reflect the strong demand for UIC Business accounting students, whose rigorous preparation and professional engagement make them attractive candidates for firms across the profession.
Student Engagement Through the Accounting Club
The event was hosted by the UIC Accounting Club, a student organization dedicated to supporting the professional development of accounting students. Through networking events, firm presentations, and career-focused programming, the club helps students build connections with employers and gain exposure to opportunities in the accounting profession.
Withum’s relationship with UIC Business began in September 2025 through employer outreach by the Business Career Center. After attending the Fall 2025 Meet the Firms Accounting Career Fair, the firm hired its first UIC student for a Spring 2026 internship.
The event also reflects the continued efforts of the UIC Business Career Center to expand employer engagement and connect students with organizations actively recruiting talent.
