Guaranteed and Preferred Admissions

Continue your UIC experience with guaranteed and preferred graduate business admission.

The UIC Business Graduate School offers admissions pathways to five programs that put qualified UIC students and alumni on the fast track to admission through the waiver of the GRE/GMAT requirement. Some programs may also waive the requirement to submit letters of recommendation.

Note: Qualified applicants who are current UIC undergraduate students, or applicants who have graduated from UIC are eligible to apply under the guaranteed programs. Students and alumni from the University of Illinois Springfield and Urbana Champaign campuses may also qualify. See the specific requirements for each program below.

University of Illinois students or alumni (from the three campuses: Chicago, Champaign and Springfield) who have graduated with an undergraduate degree received in the 16 months prior to the intended start of the Master of Science in Accounting, who meet the requirements below will be waived from the GMAT/GRE requirement and the requirement to submit letters of recommendation.

University of Illinois Accounting undergraduates who:

  • Have completed 90 hours overall, and
  • Have a GPA of 3.0/4.0 from all accounting courses taken
  • Have completed 12 hours in accounting courses at the 300- or 400- level, and
  • Have an overall GPA of 3.25/4.0, and
  • Have a GPA of 3.0/4.0 from any accounting courses taken

University of Illinois Non-Accounting undergraduates who:

  • Have completed 90 hours overall, and
  • Have an overall GPA of 3.25/4.0, and
  • Have a GPA of 3.0/4.0 from any accounting courses taken

UIC and University of Illinois Urbana Champaign students and alumni (graduated within five years of applying) who meet the requirements below will be waived from the GMAT/GRE requirement.

Once a student is admitted under PABA, he/she will be automatically enrolled in the MSBA program after receiving the undergraduate degree only if a minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 has been maintained during the last 60 hours of the undergraduate program.

UIC Information and Decision Sciences (IDS) undergraduates who:

  • Have completed 90 hours overall,
  • Have a GPA of 3.0/4.0 in the CBA core (200, 270, 355) courses, and
  • Have a GPA of 3.0/4.0 in at least three IDS major courses

UIC College of Business Administration (CBA) non-IDS undergraduates who:

  • Have completed 90 hours overall,
  • Have an overall GPA of 3.0/4.0, and
  • Have a GPA of 3.0/4.00 in the CBA core (200, 270, 355) courses

UIC/UIUC non-CBA undergraduates who:

  • Have completed 90 hours overall,
  • Have an overall GPA of 3.0/4.0, and
  • Have a GPA of 3.00/4.0 in three introductory courses, one each in database, systems analysis and design, and programming*

*This requirement only applies if an applicant has taken any of these courses. These courses are not required to qualify for PABA.

UIC and University of Illinois Urbana Champaign students and alumni (graduated within five years of applying) who meet the requirements below will be waived from the GMAT/GRE requirement and the requirement to submit letters of recommendation.

Once a student is admitted under GAMIS, he/she will be automatically enrolled in the MS-MIS program after receiving the undergraduate degree only if a minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 has been maintained during the last 60 hours of the undergraduate program.

University of Illinois students, or alumni (from the three campuses: Chicago, Champaign and Springfield) who have graduated from any undergraduate, graduate or professional program (within three years of start of program), with a cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 will be waived of GMAT/GRE requirement and guaranteed admissions into the program provided all other admissions requirements are met.

Complete applications for guaranteed admissions must be submitted by the specified deadline to qualify for guaranteed admissions.

University of Illinois Students, or alumni (from the three campuses: Chicago, Champaign, and Springfield) who have graduated from any undergraduate, graduate or professional program (within 5 years of applying), with a cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.00 will be waived of GMAT/GRE requirement and guaranteed admissions into the program provided all other admissions requirements are met.
