William O’Brien, assistant professor of finance, received this year’s Silver Circle Award in recognition of his teaching. The award, presented since 1966, honors UIC’s best teachers, with winners selected by graduating seniors from each college. Assistant Professor O’Brien joins the 13 other faculty receiving the 2018 award and will be honored at UIC Business commencement.

On November 2, eight UIC Business student teams competed against teams from Loyola and DePaul University in the CHALLENGE business case analysis competition hosted by PwC, one of the big four international accounting firms. The CHALLENGE case competition was open to freshman and sophomore students, and included 17 teams.
