The Accounting Department hosted its 8th UIC Accounting Research Conference on Friday, September 10. The conference was held virtually this year due to Covid-19 related restrictions. Over 100 scholars representing 40 institutions around the country participated in the conference. The speakers included:
- Brian Bushee, University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, “Co-opetition and the firm’s information environment”
- Gary Chen, University of Illinois at Chicago, “Income taxes and managerial incentives: Evidence from hedge funds”
- Scott Dyreng, Duke University, “Tax deficits and the income shifting of U.S. multinationals”
- Edward Riedl, Boston University, “Changes in risk factor disclosures and the variance risk premium”
- Jayanthi Sunder, University of Arizona, “Insider trading restrictions and informed trading in peer stocks”
Technical sessions were followed by a virtual social activity allowing participants to socialize. The Department looks forward to organizing its next conference on campus, scheduled for Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10, 2022.
