UIC Business Professor Anthony Corte joins Professor Richard Thomas as the second UIC Business faculty member to be chosen as a Master Teaching Scholar (MTS) for the 2015-16 academic year. As an MTS, Professor Corte will work with Professor Thomas and ten other Teaching Scholars to mentor participating UIC faculty in variety of topics related to pedagogy and the learning environment. Professor Corte, whose background lies in both business and classroom technology, will be focused on how instructors can use technology to make the most of their limited classroom time with their students.
Master Teaching Scholars work within the UIC Center for the Advancement of Teaching-Learning Communities, a new program of the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. MTSs are peer leaders, anchoring the Center’s programming and supporting faculty who seek to strengthen any number of aspects of their teaching practice by becoming Center members on a semester-basis as Teaching Scholars (TSs). MTSs serve in this role for one year, with the possibility of continuation for a second year via re-application and productive contributions as MTSs in the prior year.
