UIC Business Accounting Master Class: Accounting Fraud in the Age of COVID

The COVID-19 pandemic brought with it economic downturn forcing businesses to compete with fewer resources and major operational hurdles. Historically, economic downturn yields more accounting fraud. On October 28, 2020 UIC Business presented the first event of new master class series hosted by distinguished UIC Business alumnus Brad Sargent ’99 and esteemed UIC Business professor Michael Popowits ’81, MS ’83. Discussion focused on the types of fraud happening now, ways individuals and companies can help safeguard themselves, and encouraged a more ethical culture at the organizations where they work.
