About

Dr. Evgenia (Janya) Golubeva joined the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2018. In addition to her teaching role, Dr. Golubeva is the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the finance department. Since earning her Ph.D. from the University of Utah in 2002, Dr. Golubeva has taught a variety of finance courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels as well as additional energy-related courses at the executive level. Dr. Golubeva is the recipient of numerous teaching awards as well as instructional and research grants. Her three main teaching areas are Trading and Investments, Risk Management, and Energy. Dr. Golubeva has studied the effect of psychological factors on decision-making in finance in a number of research projects. Her research has been published in the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Banking and Finance, and the Journal of Financial Markets. She has also authored a book chapter on carbon management and environmental issues. Prior to her graduate studies she worked in the energy industry for several years, having earned a degree in Geophysics from the Gubkin State University of Oil and Gas in Moscow, Russia. Dr. Golubeva has numerous interests and hobbies, including piano, singing, poetry, and fine arts.
