About

Jocelyn’s research interests lie at the intersection of social movements, markets, and sustainability. She examines how activists pressure firms and industries to change their socially and environmentally detrimental practices, as well as how they support new sustainable industries. Additionally, Jocelyn studies how targeted firms and markets push back against this pressure, especially through the creation of corporate front groups. She has used both qualitative and mixed method designs to explore these processes in the home improvement retail and forestry industries, urban agriculture, community-based river conservation, and – more broadly – firm misconduct. Jocelyn currently teaches MGMT 350 External Environment of Business at UIC in the undergraduate business program. In the past, she has taught courses on strategic management, organizational leadership, and social entrepreneurship and innovation. Prior to joining UIC, Jocelyn was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University. She was also a postdoctoral research fellow at the Erb Institute at the University of Michigan and at McGill University in Montreal.
